Once I had a farm…

…in fact I still do. It’s not in Africa though, it’s in that global village that is Facebook. Today I’m going to show you my farm because a while ago when I complained about having nothing much to post my friend Dave told me to post about my farm.

So I will.

I’m quite attached to my farm. Occasionally I think I could be putting my time to better use, but the truth is I actually find my farm quite relaxing. I feed my animals, plow my fields, and plant then harvest my crops. I visit my friends and do a bit of work on their farms and generally enjoy myself. It’s not hurting anyone, I’m not killing aliens or destroying civilisations. I’m not spending hours on it, just a few minutes a day quietly farming. Considering I rarely get into my own garden these days it’s a poor but adequate compromise. Admittedly in the beginning I would fret that I might miss my crops ripening and they’d wilt. But now I time them to be available when I’m ready so there’s no pressure any more – and if I don’t get there and they wilt – meh, so what? It’s all good. And I think my farm is quite lovely too….

I nearly got a Facebook account for the farm. Didn't get around to it though. Not yet, anyway.

I must admit I found my farm taking undue time, so (as you may have noticed) I sold off most of the animals. I have, however, built myself a mansion.

Oh Z, you should, it's lots of fun. Go on...

I did notice that Dave, I've kept my animals and trees to a minimum for the same reason.

ahhhh caitlin, i feel the same way about my farm :) i plod around enjoying trying to decide what to plant~no big race to earn points and climb the ladder (my word i just realised that even there people treat it like the real world and aim to climb the ladder of success!)

...now i have urge to watch 'out of africa', the trouble is i always spend the last big chunk of it in tears :(

I started doing that, then realised the irony of taking time to do virtual farming when I should have been doing real farming.

Your farm looks ever so neat.

Laoi, my sister and I found it hilarious that her husband decided to play Farmville and immediately calculated the most effective way to do it to increase money and work through the levels. Sigh. Where's the fun in that? oh and I'm the same with Out of Africa - sob.

Yes Malc, it does seem somewhat ironic to be playing Farmville while your own farm awaits right outside the window. Although on a cold and icy day the Farmville farm is a lot easier to work I suspect. :-)
